Hi! Well Mari, when i began the accutane at the beginning of September i thought i would definetely be completely clear by Christmas, but i'm not:( I was dreading the day coming up to it but i did manage to get by ok by covering up with make-up,and then it didn't look too bad thankfully;but they were still there underneath. Now i'm dreading New Year's Eve.There is a street party in my cul-de-sac and i will be hiding indoors hoping that no-one will try to get me out.I really thought roaccutane would have cleared me by now,3-4 months in,but i'm holding on to the fact that the higher dosage i'll begin on the 3rd of Jan will completely clear my skin.Christmas is an anti-climax anyway for me;i'm holding on for the first year i can really enjoy myself next. Here's hoping it'll be next year:)
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!From what i gather we all need a better one!!! Thumbs up!

Well......today I got my 3rd 10 day prescription of accutane...only now I'm up to 20mg a day, and only one time a day mind you. Talk about being cautious!! I can't say my skin is any different really, although it seems less oily and I have gotten the wierd pimples in places I don't usually get them. I think the tane made my "right before my time of the month pimples way worse! My skin is flaking tho. I have been achy, but I can't say it's the tane for sure cuz I am still exercising and recently got this dance game for my playstation2 and I can play it for hours!! You are literally stepping on a dance pad while you watch arrows on your tv screen. It was originaly an arcade game. It is very addictive, and great for burning calories!!! Anyway, I am definitely over doing it, I know I should take it easy, but I don't want all my exercise progress to go away cuz of this drug!!!! I am taking the L-carninite also Mari...I saw one of your posts on that "other forum".

Anyway, I hope everyone has a happy new year Laughing

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in awhile. Well, I'm on week 9 and progress is not where I would like to be, but I guess it's acceptable for now. My back is completely clear, my chest has a few spots in the very center portion but considering the rate that it's cleared at since I started, I'm confident it'll be great in a couple more weeks. Unfortunately my face hasn't progressed that well. I still get pimples pretty much in every place, but at a much reduced rate compared to pre-accutane. I'm 140 lbs and on 60 mg per day BTW. Side effects: dried lips, dry face, back pain when I work out. I think that really covers it. I haven't noticed anything else wrong. I don't have any mood swings or anything else that I can think of. I guess I've been lucky in the side effect regard. I almost wish i DID have some more side effects so I could tell it was working. Sad

Best of luck to you all and happy holidays.

I have been finished with accutane now for a couple of months and I'm happy to say I am clear. Just want to tell present accutaners to bare with it that they will clear to and to hang in there.

When i woke up this morning i couldn't believe it;there were loads more spots on my forehead and i just look a complete mess.I expected much more from the accutane.I mean,at the moment i think the accutane is making it worse! And this can't be an initial breakout thing at 4 months.I really can't understand how it was all going so well up until a month ago and then it went downhill, just at the time where i should have started really completely clearing.I waited for this drug for so long, trying everything else and putting so much hope and expectations into it and now look where i am.It's not the same as it was before i started.Kittybella;i'm getting them in places where i didn't get them before too.For about the first 3 months i was clearing but then early December it just started-down the sides of my face,my cheeks,my neck,my chest and now my forehead!
But,tomorrow i am upping my dose from 30mg to 50mg and in my other post,Luvstorun and Mari reassured me that the higher dose may be what i need to clear me.So i'm really, really hoping;and i hope the higher dose doesn't break me out even worse.Accutane has got to work for me! HELP!

Hey guys!!

Well i went to my derm today and in two weeks i should be back on roaccutane! Gotta sort out the contraceptive stuff first though.
Im weary incase it doesnt work again second time round but my derm says hes only had 2 failure cases in his whole time with accutane therapy, which is a lotta years! watch me be another, just my luck! Shifty Eyes

He wants to put me on a prolonged course (i was taken off my last one last year before i saw the full effect Sad ) and put me at the highest dose possible? scary!

Kelly, im in england too, where abouts and how old are ya? I was like you on my first course of accutane, i didnt seem to clear for aaaaaages, and when i finally noticed a difference i got taken off!!

HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK FOR GOOD THIS TIME!!!

Well i'll keep you posted about it anyway!

Hey mari!!

I know, im praying too! Im gonna need your support through it ok!
I was on accutane for about 5 months the first time, but one month at a low dose, so i guess 4 months really. I saw it begin to work properly as i was taken off Sad
Im not sure what dose i'll be doing this time, but i think itll be for about 6 months on a high dose and then a 6 months maintenance dose, im not sure, i guess he'll tell me when i start on it!

Hi everyone!Well,i upped my dosage today and i started on 50mg.I really hope this will work now #angel Does anyone know whether i should take it all together or in divided doses,i forgot to ask my derm?At 30mg i just took it all together with my lunch but now should i carry on taking it all together(2x20mg pills and 2x5mg pills)at lunch the same,or should i take 30mg at lunch and then 20mg with my main meal ay dinner time.Although on the front of the pack it does say take them once daily and the leaflet says you can take them once daily or in divided doses.Any ideas?
Lilnat;i really hope this second course works for you too.I have read that for some people the first course of roaccutane can make their acne less severe or change, like come in different places than before, but not completely clear them so they need another go;and i think the first course can not work for about 20% of people so they need another go.To answer your question,i'm from Yorkshire.I won't say exactly where because you don't know who's reading,do you?Not that i'm saying you're a psycho or that anyone here is a psycho but anyone else could just be reading in Mr. Green Anyway;),i'm 20 to answer your other question. It was just my birthday in December and everyone kept saying"Oh,you're not a teenager anymore",and i just felt rubbish because i still have this awful disease which is perceived to be a teenage problem so i do still feel like a teenager!Anyway,i'll speak to you all soon and let you know how this higher dosage is going.Bye!

This thread continues!! Cheers Mari for a great board. Looks amazing I might add. I'm off the accutane, happily married and with a great house. Finished my course this past week and am excited, nervous, etc.. on being off the stuff. My lips are normalizing and my skin's 100 percent clear. Been a great couple months.. wedding pictures were awesome and so was christmas. Smile I'm digging the way I look. I just hope it remains. Any suggestions on post accu-usage for a regime? Anyone know my chances of staying clear? 5 month course. I'm nervous. Anyrate, it's great to be back.. sorry to have left.. had to.. I was getting married and stuff. Smile Smile
love ya all.

Nico

So now i've been taking the higher dosage for two days but i'm not sure anything is happening yet.I hope i don't break out even worse! My skin is not oily at the moment but it's not particularly dry either Confused There are just afew dry patches and i'm not feeling that i have to use my moisturiser at the moment. It's just the spots!I've been taking the whole 50mg at lunchtime,is this alright?
Nicodemis;i'm glad you're completely clear Smile I used to just read in here and at the other site so i was following the accutane thread and interested in everyone's progress.Hope it stays that way now you've finished.
Lilnat;i can't believe you're from Yorkshire too.That is so uncanny Laughing I'm 20.
