Jim,
Yes, biotin is involved in hair growth and in retention of your hair, and your hair color so when biotin is no longer available you will lose some hair or you will turn gray as some posters have already mentioned on this board. This can also happen when you are on Accutane.
Jim, this is why everyone who knows about this problem with biotin will advise to take a multiple B vitamin with the mega doses of B5. I personally do not take mega doses of B5 but I do take a multiple B from time to time as I feel I need to do this. I do take a low dose of B5 right now.
B5 interrupts excessive Cortisol production.
You need some Cortisol just to be able to funcion in your everyday life as a human being. Cortisol is one of the hormones that gives you the 'push' to get things done in your life. Without Cortisol you would just sleep all of the time. It's the EXCESS Cortisol that causes stress that leads to acne, heart attacks and strokes.
When you shut Cortisol down almost completely as you do with mega dose of B5 you will get VERY TIRED. I believe that if you get very tired on mega doses of B5 that you probably do not need to remove excess stress. What I think is happening is that your acne is actually caused by other causes when you get very tired on B5.
I know I mentioned about how B5 can remove too much Cortisol from your body and this in turn can cause you to be very tired. I believe that this is in the thread on vitamin C that I posted a while back where I went into excess Cortisol production and b5. Jim, check out the vitamin C and stress thread that i started on this board.

Thanks Solomio. I am taking 8g a day of B5 and a lot of other vitamins inluding 3g a day of Vit-C, but not B complex. I am just the opposite, I haven't got tired since I started, but I have been well rested and require less sleep.
Can you recommend a B vitamin I should take?
Thanks |
