Hey guys!
I just got back from LA last night Mr. Green It was A BLAST!! #angel better yet, I had no breakout, so my face stayed clear. Interestingly, I broke quite a bit of my rules...for example, one day I had white bread sandwiches twice and white rice at night.....I mean, baaaaaaaaaaad stuff! yet nothing... the day b4 i got back, I had a whole, huge piece of chocolate mousse cake (I couldn't help it, this patry shop at the hollywood Blvd. makes it the best!!) yet nothing so far....I dont want to get all hyped up or anything...because I know that I didn't get any breakouts because I'm still taking B5, but I lowered it yesterday, to about 1.5 to 2 grams....but I think the optizinc 45 mg is also helping A LOT!........

Now, I have some questions that I really hope some1 can help me with....to refresh ppl's memory, I'm taking multivitamin from vitacost, 45 mg. of optizinc, and b5 (was taking 4 grams a day, yesterday lowered it to 1.5 to 2 grams) and doing the diet.....I really wanna quit this b5 because I'm experiencing some hair loss, more then b4. And I have a very good feeling its 'the B5 (it wasn't this bad b4). on the same note, I also think I'll start breaking out sooner or later if I stop b5 completely. I still havent bought any digestive enzymes or probiotics......didn't even have time to search them up.....would u all say that Milk Thistle is a good choice?? and do I just follow the regular supplement dosage in the bottle for myself? or is it more for us acne folks? 1 other question is, does the hair loss due to megadosing of b5 caused because of biotin deficiency?? my multivitamin has 500 mcg of biotin....how much biotin do you need when u'r on b5?? But really! I wanna cut this b5 out of my regimen for all time.....

Oh! last question.......is 45 mg of zinc OK to take every day, for the rest of my life?? i mean, the regular dosage is 15 mg, I think...wut u all think? And, any of u taking vitamin C? how much do you guys take? Maya told me she takes 1-2 grams on top of the multivitamin......gimme ur thoughts.........thanks guyz!!

OH! if you wanna have fun in your vacation....go to LA! haha Mr. Green

Hey Mickey, you was vistin' my hometown!! Haha, its cool but I havent been there in like forever. Did you drive down Mulholland Drive at night?? That is such a great view!!! And crusin' Sunset Blvd at night or hangin round Beverly Hills during the day, and passin' by all those fancy houses and the movie stars....hehe. And the drive from inland to the coast, through the mountains and to see the Pacific from up high...awesome!!

Sorry, I got carried away....glad you had fun!!!

I have never heard of people losing hair over the B5. Sad Thats a bummer...and it seems strange but if its happening than I guess you stop to make sure its the B5 (or not). Maybe you have a B vitamin deficiency because of the B5. Biotin is just one of the several B Vits you need. Have you been taking a B-Complex along with the B5?? Well if you ever totally quit the B5 you will still may be getting like 250mg per day in a multivitamin. Just depends on the Multi.

Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics: a great benefit for us. The probiotics will keep the good flora abundant which you need. The enzymes will help digest food. Good for when you eat the wheat products or splurge on mousse! Smile There is a brand called Parazyme from Renew Life that has both digestive enzymes and probiotics in one pill. I use it and so do a few others here, its good!

Milk thistle (silymarin): a good start is probably 500mg per day. It is not like probiotics or enzymes. It is used for liver support by protecting it from harmful toxins, helping to remove toxins from liver cells and it is also a good anitoxidant where it helps reduce/neutralize free radicals (which can be damaging to cells in the body).

Vit C: I take 500-1000mg per day.

Zinc and Biotin deficiency: I dont know 'bout that. Maybe Solomio or Denise can answer. Smile

Hey mickeyinluv,

Have you thought that the diet could be biggest reason why you're clear? Imagine if you stopped taking all your supplements and you were still clear. Providing your diet was varied, you could do just that.

I'm on the same diet as you. Been on it a week and it's like "wow, this is my cure". Clarity and texture is clear and smooth. Scars are fading fast. Another week and I reckon I'll be totally clear! Alot of thanks to the author will be in order.

I don't know about you but I haven't been tempted into breaking any of the rules. It must be the yumminess of all combos I make with fruit, veg and low starch foods. I bought wholegrain bread (which we can eat) and haven't touched it! I think I'm just enjoying the break from all the heavy stuff.

I take B5 in a B-complex and 15mg of Zinc aswell as a few other things. These two supplements have their food sources. Look them up, substitute food for tablets and see how it works out. If it works, you'll no longer need to buy and take supplements again. I'll try it myself in a week's time. Don't hesitate if you want to PM me for extra info or just post in this thread.

Mr. Green.... continuing the bg trend

RK,
Mulholland drive...YES! we drove around there at night...aaaah! it was soooo beautiful, rather breath taking! Those beautiful houses and dark mountains just left me enthralled! I sooo miss it! lotta places we went, we saw pacific from top..like Getty center! (u know that one?)...I have a major thing for art! sigh....I should've stayed there longer.. so thats ur hometown, eh? next time u go, how about taking me with ya Wink lol!

hey I still dont get wut probiotics are.. wuts flora?? I think I'm gonna PM you about these things...is that cool? "coz I have some questions about digestive enzymes and probios...I think, I need these things to help with my digestion and all that stuff....as for B5, I thought of the B-complex but I thought I was getting those from my Multi's...I dunno how much I need...do I need to take extra on top of the multi? oh! and my multi has only 30 mg of B5 (very lil')....my multi also has vit. c, but only 100 mg.....sigh! ok, I should PM u b4 I write a novel here Wink

Camille,
You're probably right about the diet...but u know, I'm also not tempted a lot when I see food...i mean, usually not! lol! Wink but my biggest problem is my culture and tradition getting in the way....for example, I'll be visiting my back home end of this year in Dec. and will be staying there for 2months....and I can gaurantee you I'll end up breaking a lot of my rules...why? 'coz lot of the food I eat here is not available there, I may have to take stuff like oatmeal, soybean snacks, pure honey ('coz stuff there has lot of false ads on them)...etc....with me. plus, my families wont cook anything but greasy, oily, spicy food...urghh!! but I'm gonna try my best...I'll continue to eat brown rice there (hope they have 'em over there)...so yeah! but thanks for the thought, I agree with u! will see wut happens...and hey! lemme know how it goes for the next few weeks with your diet...I'm curious!

I support B5-only thing to clear me & what we suspect is now clearing my son. Anyway, there have been posts about B5 & hair loss. A yr ago a rumour got started because someone wrongly compared B5 to Accutane, so there was a frenzy that B5 causes hair loss. There's nothing to support that and those of us clear from B5 have not had that experience. It does make my hair dry, which makes it feel thinner, but a good conditioning product fixes that. And yes, you could have a Biotin deficiency, but just add a good B complex once or twice a wk. From my experience, if you stop B5, you'll remain clear for about 2 wks and then your skin will start breaking out again- unless of course you are clear from other things.

I was curious. B5 helps metabolize fats, so if you ate a lot of fat, the B5 would help. Are you still clear now?

Annie,
gosh I really hope its not B5...then again, I DID take accutane last year, in the beginning and completed a course.....so could that be effecting me now? after all this time? i wonder.....the interesting thing is though, when I first took B5 for 3 months (6g) and I stopped...I continued to stay clear (i mean 100% with not even a single bump or anything)...for another 3-4 months....yep, months! i dunno how Shocked but this time, it was definitely not like that.....I was breaking out even with 7 grams, being well over a month into it....now, I'm literally taking 1-1.5 grams 'coz I'm not breaking out...haha!!

Wally,
yep i'm still clear....but i'm giving it some time 'coz its around that time of the month and I'm usually clear at that time....though when I was in LA, that was exactly the time when I usually break out...1-2 weeks b4 that time of the month...so, i'm waiting....I'm still planning on buying some digestive enzymes and lower my B5 to as low as 500 mg or something....

mickeyinluv you seem like you break out at ovulation like me! Do you know if B5 helps with hormonal acne like that?

nat,
ya i noticed I breakout at ovulation....but B5 did clear me up the 1st time... i mean, i had a crystal clear face...not liying! lemme ask u somthing.... do you breakout or get pimples in one area of your face?? for example, most of mine are usually on my cheeks...i have 2-3% occurring on my chin or something....but 95% of my breakouts take place on my cheeks.. why i ask? 'coz I read Maya in one post saying that breakouts around the jawline means hormonal acne....and on cheeks means, gastro/intestinal problems.... so if I DO have my acne partly related to hormone, then how come I dont get any on my jawline? so, i guess we could have different types of acne and not just only hormonal or with digestive problems?? hmmm scratch chin

Yes, I also break out just on the cheeks 95% of the time. The left and right cheeks usually centred in the middle and just along and between teh eyebrows. That's weird.

I don't normally suffer from acne in other areas. Is this in fact indicitive of a gastro intestinal problem?
